MILITEC-1. The ultimate conditioner and lubricant for firearms

MILITEC-1 reduces buildup of fouling, making firearms (black powder and smokeless) easier to clean, reduces friction, increases muzzle velocity and accuracy, prevents jamming. reduces wear, Inhibits corrosion, highly concentrated and long lasting

Excellent on guns, knives, fishing reels and all metal working parts as it protects metal with a molecular coating of oil.

MILITEC-1, Synthetic based metal conditioner test report

MILITEC-1 is a chemically reacted Synthetic Based Metal Conditioner that protects metal with a constant, impregnated molecular bond. It works within the molecular structure and micro pores of metal and  non-metallic surfaces of firearms. Traditional lubricants temporarily bathe and coat the metal surfaces and create a film between all metal parts. Since the condition is only temporary a lack of constant lubrication leaves the firearm unprotected due to the effects of firing, environmental conditions and long term storage. Traditional lubricants also attract and hold foreign particles on the metal surfaces. This causes increased friction, heat, wear and malfunctions to occur. A MILITEC-1 treated firearm can be wiped completely clean and dry and will still retain adequate lubrication. That's right- no liquid lubricant, but still completely lubricated. This is because Militec-1 is in the metal, not just on the surface, so the liquid component is unnecessary. This unique self lubricating effect was used to great advantage during Desert Storm. And is currently used by many U.S. Government Agencies and Military organizations worldwide. MILITEC-1 is ideal for firearms exposed to harsh weather conditions. Once fully bonded, a light coating of MILITEC-1 left on the firearm affords great corrosion protection. MILITEC-1 makes firearms much easier to clean. Since MILITEC-1 seals metal surfaces, fouling and other debris do not build up as quickly. In most cases, a firearm can simply be wiped clean with little effort.

So reads the technical information, now for the test report.........

The ideal situation was to test MILITEC-1 at the Masters Games where we fired about 150 shots in our muzzleloaders for the weekend. I followed the instructions and degreased the bore then wiped a slightly wet patch of MILITEC-1 down it. One of the claims that is made about this product is that it reduces fouling and I can confidently say that it does. After firing strings of 14-28 shots I was able to field clean the bore with a couple of damp patches of home made moose's milk. Because it was so hot and dry most of the other shooters were complaining about getting the caked on fouling out of their barrels. When it came to cleaning the rifle properly at the end of the day it was exactly the same story. I cleaned up in half the time.

Another advantage in hot weather is that some lubricating oils as they heat up tend to run, which is not an ideal situation as it can leave working surfaces unprotected. With this in mind I cleaned my lock out and degreased it fully. I then wiped it all over with MILITEC-1 paying careful attention to springs and all moving parts, keeping in mind that MILITEC-1 is highly concentrated and goes a very long way. Again, over the 2 days the flintlock did not miss a beat with the frizzen snapping open on every shot and the lock cocking and firing every single time. When I stripped the lock a few days later there were no signs of wear whatsoever. Whilst I only tested it on my muzzleloader I am now going to use it on my other black powder rifles, like my Yellowboy and Sharps sporting rifle.

At (NZ) $14-95 plus packaging and postage for a 30ml bottle, MILITEC-1 represents excellent value for money and does exactly what its advertising says. I was so impressed and I thought that you would be too, that's why you can purchase it at the  bottom of this page.

Epilogue: Since I wrote the above review I have had time for further testing. At Easter weekend we went to the Southern Mountain Man Rendezvous at Kopara Village on the West Coast. Now I'm sure that most of you know that the West Coast has the highest rainfall in New Zealand, and rain it did. Prior to going there I Oiled up the rifles with MILITEC-1 paying particular attention to the exterior metal parts around the barrel, lock and triggers. After a days shooting my wife and I field cleaned the guns but deliberately did not oil them just to test the rust inhibitor qualities of MILITEC-1. Normally over at the "Coast" the guns start to rust very quickly (after an hour sometimes) especially after a few drops of water have got on them, however I found that after 3 days shooting and no oiling we had only a few specs of rust on the outside of the barrel and lock, but nowhere near the normal amount we would have had. Now it's fair to say that over the last few weeks that whenever my wife and I have gone shooting we have been lubing/oiling our rifles, after cleaning, with MILITEC-1. So it's fair to say that there has been some pre-conditioning happening, but still, it was a useful test and obviously over a period of time the MILITEC-1 starts coming into it's own. I have since learned that if you apply the MILITEC-1 and then heat the metal parts in an oven or with a hairdryer to approximately 60 degrees (C) for 20 minutes then it works even better!!!!!!

Whilst we were over there a friend of ours that had brought some MILITEC-1 was trying it out as well. He had 2 rifles, fired 5 shots from each and then cleaned them using hot water and a hose attached to the nipple that pumped the water into a medium sized glass jar. He showed me the results and I only wish that I had thought to take a photograph. The water was slightly discolored but you could still see through it. Remarkable. I know I have cleaned rifles out in the past after firing 5 shots using a bucket of water and the water has gone instantly black. I personally now use only MILITEC-1 on all of my guns.

Being highly concentrated, MILITEC-1 goes a long way and is also perfect for knives, fishing reels and any other metal surface that needs protection. For more specifications and instructions for its use click here.
