1. ITEM DESCRIPTION:

MILITEC-1, synthetic metal conditioner

2. OBJECTIVE/APPLICATION: Maintains a weapon in a clean, jam-free, environmentally protected condition. Establishes a molecular bond within the weapon's metal surfaces, producing a constantly lubricated, corrosion-resistant weapon that requires minimal cleaning after firing.

4. EXISTING REQUIREMENT DOCUMENTATION? A requirement for a metal conditioner is defined, and in the process of being characterized at ARDEC.

5. REPLACE EXISTING ITEM? Yes: Cleaner, Lubricant, Preservative (CLP), currently specified for small arms maintenance.

6. IS THIS PROPOSAL BEING USED BY ANY OTHER SERVICE ORGANIZATION? MILITEC-1 is being used throughout the federal government - in particular by law enforcement agencies, including exclusive use by the Secret Service - to ensure reliable, safe operation of small arms.

7. IF ADOPTED, THIS PROPOSAL WILL RESULT IN
Improvement to quality of life in tactical environment: The soldier's weapon, treated with MILITEC-1, will be more dependable, will experience less corrosion, will require less time and effort to clean, and will not expose the soldier to noxious fumes, either during application of the metal conditioner, or during firing of the weapon. This improves soldier survivability, lethality, and safety, as well as efficient use of the soldier's time by making weapon cleaning easier and quicker.
