The Honorable John H. Dalton
Secretary of the Navy
The Navy
Navy Department
Washington, D.C. 20350
Dear Secretary Dalton:
I have recently been informed by Brad Giordani, President of Militec Corporation, that actions have been directed toward canceling their product's National Stock Numbers, which were properly issued by the Defense Logistics Agency. I am writing to express my concern for this situation.
The Militec Corporation produces MILITEC-1, a unique, synthetic-based metal conditioner which, by forming a molecular bond with metal surfaces, provides a highly lubricous and corrosion-resistant barrier that has been used by the U.S. Navy, Justice, and Treasury Departments since 1989.
As you may know, the DoD has a new procurement policy that stresses reliance on the commercial marketplace and avoidance of government-unique requirements, which will lower defense spending by cutting the procurement bureaucracy, speeding needed procurement, and increasing the efficiency of defense equipment. MILITEC-1 can facilitate the implementation of this new procurement policy and cut defense spending by boosting fuel efficiency, increasing the efficiency of equipment and extending its useful life.
Furthermore, this product provides cost savings for DoD and survivability of our uniformed men and women and their equipment. Militecs's sales of this product have been interrupted to the military services and are in danger of being interrupted to non-DoD agencies for reasons that remain unclear.
